I've been building a 69 f100 from the ground up and have a 400 engine tore down to rebuild but my brother just got a 70s' 440 and trans with 23,000 miles that runs. He said if I can make it fit I can have it. Now I know what a lot of you will yell but this can save me a lot of money and get me on the road . The question is how hard would it be to do this and what would it involve? Some one please give me some help and not to much about the trader part.
You'd better know how to fabricate and engineer your way through it. Otherwise, this "good deal" is a curse in disguise. In the end, it's gonna cost you more in the long run to adapt that 440.
Thanks HIO Silver and 51MHFS for the quick response. That's what I was wanting to know so I will sell the engine and finish my own. Thank you for your answers.
Well when I was very young and having welder your friends with one it was now big deal to trans plant a other engine into a sleeper. As my brother had a 39 chevy with a big V8 flat head Caddy motor.
One you look at the pan like what will it clear or hit.
Then the exh outlets on the exh manifolds like will it hit or will you need to feb up headers from a head kit.
Then how will you fab up and build the motor mounts for your mopar motor.
Then a few hundred buck for a drive line. And then the cooling system maybe a custom radiator another few hundred bucks.
But if you have a lot of good friends that could help out with some of custom fabrication work then go for it.
Also like stated above since your asking here you don't have a clue
of how to go about this engine swap for sizing it all up in your mines eye to go for it..
Not a lot of Mopar lovers here since this site is about Ford Trks and but it's your truck and you can stuff any motor you want into a ford vehicle..
Plus what kind of resale value would this at to your vehicle with that mopar motor in it.. my 2cents orich
ditch the 400 and the 440, stick a 557 bbf , and a c-6 behind that, shorten the driveshaft, get some headers for a 74. you'll never look back other than to check if that rice burner is still behind you. or chevy or dodge.

Me personally I'd sell the Mopar to buy Cylinder heads and higher compression pistons for the 400. But as far as the 440 goes, Pincheweddo has a 67 that HAD a 440 in it. Check out his thread titled 1967 F100 Resurrection. Or PM him. He put a Ford motor in his so maybe he can sell you everything to stick that 440 in yours.
