Dana 50?

I just picked up a 1985 F250 351HO

I'm trying to get the right size hub...the old one was destroyed. This is going to be a ground up resto but in order to move it I need a hub....both auto parts places do not have the right size hub.

It has a dual plow set up.

If the hub tapers down its a 44. If it doesn't, its a 50. I'm pretty its a 44 since non diesel trucks used that and not 50s. I have an early 85 F250 and had pink lockouts on a 44 till we changed me with black ends. Both should be TTBs. If its a 50 or straight axle its been swapped in.

Looks like a 44 to me.

Hmm,ok.

The hubs I keep getting are to small on the inside...the bearings will not fit...I am at a loss.

The lugs all the way around are 9/16

Diesels used the 44 also. Only the extended cab f250's came standard with the dana 50, the older f350's came standard with the dana 50 also. There seem to be some special order f250's with them also, but very few or they are swapped in.

It looks like a Dana 44 to me also. What are you trying to replace? What's called the "hub" in the picture below? What's wrong with your old one?

The hub....it was chipped and split by the locker and the locker was also toast.

The axle tag is half missing and has 4 10 on the part that is left.

Timken 387A for the inner.

The 387A is for the dana 50 and 60 series axles. It probably won't fit your 44.

They are showing the 104949 fitting both the 44 and the 50/60 axles. That's just the bearing, I am not sure if the race or cup is the same though.

I took those bearings out of the old hub that came off that truck....so it looks like I would have a dana 50

The LM 104949 fits the inner of the 44 which all the part stores keep giving me....I need a hub that has the 104949 as the outer a the 3870a for the inner...so this is interesting.

Maybe it is a dana 50, since it has a plow on it. Someone may have swapped it in there or it was ordered with putting a plow on it in mind from the beginning.

Look at the tag on the door jamb. Does it say the front axle weight capacity is something like 3800lbs or something like 4400lbs?
