Need help fixing actuator rod

I have a 1995 Ford f250 that has a non tilt steering and i am trying to replace the actuator rod that goes from the key cylinder to the ignition switch! I was able to start the truck but not shut it off with the key so i pulled the ignition switch and tried it manually and it works fine! I have the steering wheel off and the turn switch and all the plastic around the steering column off but i cant figure out how to remove the actuator rod! Any detailed instructions and or pictures would be great! Also would like to know where i can buy parts besides Ford? Thanks for your input!

You have to pull the key switch , and gear behind it . Plastic shim may be between lock cyl and gear ., been a few . Aint much fun the first time . Timing the gear to the rack can be tricky . Take note of how it comes apart . It can take a few tries to get it timed properly . Best of luck !

I have to do the same on my 97. Pin came out that holds the two pieces together, so now the switch is hanging below the column to start it. From what I read in the manual, the column has to come out (mines a tilt..not sure if straight is different) to get the actuator out because its tapered and won't come out thru the top.

Here's a link for the manual: http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/949...e=stjs73br.htm
