I took a 1 inch piece of PVC and added a connector to it to go to 1.5 inch and then jammed that into the end on my
shopvac...I heated up the 1 inch pvc to create a curve to it, then snaked that in through the plug holes in the firewall...
worked like a charm. Also, I removed the vents inside and snaked it up and down to the bottom...you'll likely encounter
some leaves and crud-mine had about an inch of dry dirt in the bottom!
I went to look at that Ranger down in Auburn and opened up the drivers vent with the owner standing there and pulled at least three handfuls of muck out of there. It's not going to last long like that if he doesn't tend to it.
For prevention head to a local sign shop and ask for some leftover magnetic sign material. I got several pieces to place over the vents here in pine tree country. Those things aim for the vent openings on purpose! Water can get through, but not the needles. Even when you forget to remove them for a drive, they don't fly off, but no air flow.
