Momentary brake sticking, 2012 F-250 gas, upon engaging or changing gears

OK, sometimes my truck's brakes seem to 'stick' for a couple of seconds when I go from park to drive, or even after I have been driving it, and then change to reverse to back in my driveway. It has been doing this since new. Anyone else experience this? I was chalking it up to the hill-holder function, but my old VW had this feature and it was smooth as butter. If a car with a manual transmission had the SD's sticky hill-holder functionality, you would stall out at every take off...lol

Well, it seems to do it even when the truck is setting level. The VW would only do it when on a significant incline.

Also, any reason why the brakes creak and groan when going from Park to Drive or Reverse?

If you're concerned, troverman, it wouldn't hurt to bring this up at your dealership the next time you're in for a scheduled maintenance visit. I'm also happy to do what I can to help; just send me a PM with your name, daytime phone number, mileage, VIN, and servicing dealership so I can check out options.

I feel it all the time in my truck. Coming from a manual trans truck to this, it's very noticeable. I guess if you move slowly from one pedal to the other it may be seemless, but when you're used to driving stick it certainly isn't. I chalk it up to the hill hold function, and it seems to manifest itself more with a trailer, since it keeps the trailer brakes on too. You could take it to the dealer, but right or wrong I'm sure they will blame it on the hill hold function too.

I agree 100%. I was coming from a manual, too. I'm guessing the dealer can turn this function off, but when it works to hold a heavy trailer on a hill, its nice. Maybe they can just 'dial back' how aggressive the system is.
