Well this took longer than expected. Ha ha ha. And I'm still not done. But it fires right up and idles a lot smoother than it did. First thing I notice was the passenger IC pipe was coated on the inside with oil. Is this normal?

Than I decided to do the driver side first. I used a flatheat screwdriver and stuffed rags down around te GP's. It seemed to keep loading back up everytime I pulled the rag out. But here is one of the gp's. Using a piece of hose works great to get them out.

Now onto the new SD VC. I laid it in place and connected the gp's and injectors to hold it in place. The New pigtail was just long enough to reach the old wires from the front plug. ( the way I decided to route it around). The old plugs were as follows starting from the driver side rear:
(Rear plug)
GP
INJ
G
INJ
GP
Front plug
GP
INJ
G
INJ
GP
the new SD plug is
GP
GP
INJ
INJ
C
INJ
INJ
GP
GP
So I started from the rear and did one wire at a time working from the back to the front. And got lucky that the old wires from the front plug were barely long enough. So on the passenger side I started from the front and worked to the rear. One wire at a time. I solder the connections, heat shrink and some black tape (I'm a high voltage lineman and I got lots laying around. Lol). Will finish it off this week with some loom and red tape so it resembles stock . I kicking myself for not borrowing the solder gun from our meter tech. It too forever to solder this stuff. I don't have pics because it looks like a big old turd cover both wires. Anyhow on to the passenger side what a PITA). I had an aftermarket A/C installed a few months back and I think air box is a little bigger and it doesn't come apart. It's screwed and sealed. ( I will get some pics of it tomorrow when it's light outside) but here is one with the VC off.

( I was gettin a flustered with getting to the two stud that hold the dipstick and the VC). So I resorted to this

Cut about 1" off a 3/8 deep socket and used this adapter so I could use an open end wrench with it. Worked pretty sweet!! I will finish up after I get some grub. Me hungry!!

I did the ccv mod. Isn't the driver and passenger side IC pipes seperate at the spider? Because it was only in the passenger side.

So after finally getting that dang passenger VC off, changing gp's, and slicing in the new plug. It was time to start it up and check injectors. But when I turned the key I noticed a high pitch sound coming from the GPR. Turner the key off then back on again. Didn't see any smoke or fire so I started it up. Fired up after sitting all night and day ( temps getting down to mid to upper thirties. And heating up to about 60). No smoke or rough start. Also notice the Shut down was more prompt, rather than chugging to a stop. Then while it was running I went to each injector and unplugged them one at a time. Noticed a big change in idle at every injector when they were unplugged. So injectors are good

For some reason I'm real hesitant to do the injector o'rings right now, maybe because I have never done it before, idk. I guess I will see how I feel after I get my wiring all buttoned up, but I really tempted to leave them alone. Is that stupid??

No, that's not stupid, go with your gut. If you have problems then you might have to go in later.

Looks like a Lego ef-5 Tornado! I've spent considerable time helping on those projects lately too. Gotta love it!

I wouldn't hesitate to button it back up without doing the o-rings if you have no reason to believe they're bad. Hang on to the o-rings and you can always do it later on.

Gotta love how the 5yo is carefully studying the manual before digging into the build. Has he got all the torque specs memorized?....

Got everything put back together and the big thing I noticed is the idle is a lot smoother and startup is smoother too. I will get some pics of it put together this afternoon
