Joust picked up a 03 Excursion limited 6.0, traded in my 04 f150 for it. Runs great- The dealer put in a new FICM and did a full tune up on it, also has stock bolts, NOT studs. I just added a SCT livewire with canned tunes, and have what feels like a misfire or stutter at high boost/RPM . The only thing I see on the SCT gauges is the ICP hits about 22.5 and then drops off, that is with the street tune, when i go back to stock i can hit 24+ all day without a issue. Both tunes have my FICM at 48-48.5 and never moves. The ICP Duty also in both tunes will go to about .7-.8 and never drops... Any ideas?? Is this the fuel pressure dropping from lack of the "Blue Spring mod" ??
Measure voltage at batteries, prior to start, after starting, now measure voltage on the big red wire on alt after starting, it should start at 14.4 volts and hit 14.8 volts after flow plugs shut off. Batteries should be at 12.8 before starting, should go above 13.0 after starting. If you pull the batteries and measure specific gravity in each cell, they should all read each cell SG of 1.270 or greater. Any cell measuring less than the others in a battery is likely a bad cell and you need two new batteries. If your alternator doesn't put out 14.8 volts after it's started and GPs turn off, it's likely alternator time.
I have not done that yet- I am using the Livewire TS to see the voltage of my FICM- which I have never seen below 47.5- almost always at 48.0- 48.5.... I also have found a fuel leak- just about five min ago- its draining off the passenger side of the back of the motor.... I should say its not a massive leak- after sitting overnight and all day its a spot on my driveway about 8" circle

12.8 volts after sitting all night I would consider unrealistic. 12.7 volts would be more realistic and I would bet more than 50% out there are around 12.6 volts.
There is another guy on here running runes with ICP voltage issues with a tune. Check that one out for clues, get your codes and look them all up. You are going to have to search out that fuel leak, before it gets worse. Look up the blue spring update for fuel pressure issues. This could get really tricky with tunes and ICP voltage issues. Perhaps open up the pigtail and look for wire issues, on the ICP, clean and use do-electric grease on the blades to be sure you have good contact.
69CJ I am thinking main volts, battery health, alternator operating properly, and watching for all codes.
To the OP, perhaps post your readings and we can help rule things out. Can your live wire give you codes? I would start there.
I have NO codes.. None at all- thats what stumps me.... If there was a code I would have a start. What is odd is that it only has a problem with a tune, stock is fine, ICP at 24+ and holds fine, but a tune and right at 22.8 is where my stutter is. If i run it up slow and roll it on i can go above for a second or two with issue and then it falls of. But straight WOT off the line and it does it all the time. What else info can i give you?? the Fuel leak was a broken cap for the secondary filter on top, and also looks like the O Ring on the regulator... Ill get that in the AM- as well as the blue spring
It's possible the live wire is not showing all codes. What does ICP pigtail look like? Worth a shot to clean and use dielectric grease. Intermittent stuff can drive you nuts for sure. What if you set her back to stock tune and see how she goes? Make sure you use a socket on the fuel and oil caps and not a square drive, that's what cracks them. I like to put motor oil on the o ring on them all and use a torque wrench to tighten them just to be safe. Hope you track her down.
I have a Edge off my 04 with Bills PHP tunes, and it shows nothing as well. During Stock runs it will hit 25.3 and HOLD... Which is 3700 psi roughly-- I will look at the pigtail in the AM- dark and snowing now... No thanks!! lol
Also- none of my other parameters that i can see- move at all. My FICM volts are steady at 48-48.5, the Duty Cycle goes up to .8 on both tunes, and does NOT drop...
Watch the video- sorry for the filming- not the best quality!
The ICP hits 22.5ish and stumbles. I just did the blue spring mod and it seems to help a little, also- with stock it runs fine
