Since I started this thread a few days ago, my 13- year- old son who is a total gym-rat and video game junkie has stayed in his room READING! He is smart enough to separate fantasy from reality. My son and his friends who have read HP are smart, involved, and caring Christians.
well, if they were smart, involved, caring, Christians, then they would realize that Harry Potter is evil, and one of satan's best tricks in our time, to lure people away from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Well, Satan exists and demons exist and if you have ever had to deal with either then you might take it more seriously.
I can tell you this much for sure, when you read the wrong things or watch the wrong things, they are right there next to you and on you, probing and trying to change your body and mind.
I have read and seen books so bad, that I was almost overwhelmed, and when I tried to burn them they would not burn. You introduce your children to these books at the peril of their souls.
The message these books give is nothing bad will happen to you in the end if you practice witchcraft and that it is okay. It is just the opposite and a deception. If Satan thinks he has a chance of turning your children, he will take you out and work on them full time. You have been warned.
rebocardo, i agree with you 1,000 percent, this is exactly what happens, and is the reason so many people see nothing wrong with these books, they have already been decieved and blinded by satan into thinking there is nothing wrong with reading them, remember, satan IS a liar.
I hear Harry Potter is outselling Hillary's book by a huge margin. Experts tell me that Harry Potter is more factual and fewer unbelievable statements.

"Finally brothers, whatever is ture, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things."
the HP books sure dont seem to be any of the above, so see, i try as hard as i possibly can to judge waht goes into my mind, my body, using the above piece of God's word, in the future when i have a family, this will be the same for what i let my children listen to, read, or watch.
let me ask one more thing, how does the HP books bring glory to the one and only true and living God?
Nick and Rebocardo, your right, I've been turned by the HP books. I'm convinced it's what I want to do. So now then, help me get up a shopping list for my new lifestyle. First I'll need a wand. Willow with a unicorn's mane as the core, one that shoots pretty blue sparks. Then I'll need a new flying broom so I can play quidditch (aireal soccer), something aeraodynamic and fast. Then I'll get a silver cauldron and some spell supplies. Can you tell me where I can get some boomslag skin or ground dragon toenails?
Laughing yet? You are aguing God against FANTASY. Say it with me now boys and girls FAN-TA-SEE, make believe, doesn't exist, couldn't live that way if I wanted to. Course some would say what you are selling is fantasy as well. Interesting how you two have brought God into a discussion about make-believe. Does that put the two subjects in the same area?
Put it another way: two books, which would you rather read?
1. A young man who was orphaned as an infant and grows up with an aunt and uncle who don't love him. Comes of age and goes to school where he learns self confidence and finds life long friends who would lay down their own lives for him. He solves mysteries and shows that through hard work and determination good can triumph over evil.
2. A book about a being that wipes out almost all life on this planet. Tells an old man to kill his only son who is all he's wanted his whole life. Kills another man's entire family, covers him in boils, takes all he owns so he is reduced to living on a dung heap just to settle a bet. Sends his own son to be brutally executed. And in the end is going to wipe all life out anyway.
I dare say niether of you will be able to faithfully follow all instructions laid out in the bible anyway. You will pick and choose as you see fit. But I'm running long now so if you want the rest of that story I'll post it later.
if it wasnt for God sending his own son to die for us, we would all be doomed to spend eternity in hell separated from God forever, it is out of love, more love than human words can describe that God sent his son to the cross for me, for you, for every person on this message board, Jesus died for you!
I've been kinda watching this thread for a while now. Religion is touchy stuff, so I've been avoiding it.
I'm with whistler though, all I can say is WOW!
I always thought that what separated us (European and North American Christians) from them (Arab Muslims) was the ability to think critically about our lives and religion, and act independently.
I was quite honestly unaware that extreme fundamentalism like rebocardo and nick11082001 seem to posess even existed in today's Christian world. Quite honestly, I find it every bit as scary as Taliban type Islamic fundamentalism. Anytime you replace logic and critical thought with religion, it scares me.
However, we have freedom of religion, and as long as you don't come after me with that stuff, I have no problem with you believing in whatever witches, devils, hobbits, or gods you want.
