These are pics of what I bought at NAPA this one was about 4 years old when I replaced it as you can see there is no mesh inside. It certainly seems like a good idea to have the mesh. Bill has mesh inside It's good to hear you are doing well Bill, and be careful though and remember it will talk to you, but you have to listen.

I am still running the K&N filter until I find a large filter that does have the wire on the inside.
The road dust is not a big issue where I live and I do not do any off road ding.
But....I will never run a air filter on my truck that does not have wire on the inside. That was one hard lesson for me.
Glad you are doing so well Bill...I was on the couch for 7 days...before starting to move around...Told ya....I was a Big WOO WOO
Thanks Rich and Joey. I feel pretty good. I've been up and moving around since Wednesday. The wife and I are going out for breakfast in a little while and maybe just go run around afterwards (she's driving ). But I am being careful guys and taking it easy, and Joey, I was a pretty big WOO WOO Monday and Tuesday myself......I cried like a new born baby Monday after surgery .
I ordered the Baldwin PA2818 from Fleet Filters last night. We'll see what it has in it.......we'll see if it has mesh in it like the three of us
Why not buy afe filter pn 24-91042 they flow 850 cfm while the 6637 flows 450 also they are both the same size while the afe has an inverted cone on the end for more flow. It is interesting to read about how the afe filters work they use different layers of media to achieve filteraton
Not sure why everyone is worried about inner mesh screens. Unless you submerge the filter or wait way too long to change it, you wouldn't ever have an issue. If anything ever did happen I would rather deal with paper than a piece of wire going through the turbo.
I have run Wix, Duralite, Luberfiner, Baldwin and Donaldson over the last 8 years and never had an issue with any of them. I currently am buying them from Riffraff because of the price and fast shipping.
It was bugging me so I went and checked the Baldwin 6637 I got from Riffraff earlier this year and they both have screens in them. I think it must have been the Donaldson filters that don't have it. Seems like Clay has been selling Baldwin for about 2 or 3 years now, maybe that is why he switched from the others.
Wow, Fleetfilter.com isn't any deal, $36 for one. That reminds me, hopefully Riffraff has a sale coming up again this fall on them, I think I only paid $25 each on these. Even at the normal price from Clay they are only $28 and change.
That is possible but if you are running that large of a system, very few are, then you really should be using the Big Boost that Riffraff has.
Yes I am running a large turbo and that is why I am not using the 6637 anymore as I want the cfms to be good as is why I bought the afe filter it was only 92 bucks for one.
I checked my new one I have in the shop from Clay and it has the metal screen on the inside. I got these probably 3 years ago now. I think it was a baldwin.
I guess I should have went ahead and ordered it from Riffraff then....oh well, too late now. I knew the price on the Fleet Filter one wasn't very good but I wanted to be sure to get one with the screen in it. Now that I know Clay's are the Baldwin with the inner screen we'll get them from him from here on out.....Tyler needs one too.
I'll be running the AFE from now on because its got the shield to make it more quiet. Maybe someone should inform Clay because I think it is 'hit and miss' with his stock.
