Hoping some one can me locate replacement filters for an RGS Oil Rig bypass filter system.
I bought it on ebay, maybe a bad decision now as the company RGS was out of business when I bought it.
Anyway, hopefully one of you is either familiar with this filter or knows somewhere the filter can be cross referenced, I searched the net high and low with no luck.
You can find pictures of the filter setup on the net, but no information such as who might have bought the company or anything like that.
Maybe I'm not entering the right search phrase / words.
Thanks in advance.
That's one of things I'm not sure of.
The filters are a wound string type filter, similar to the ones used in the oilgaurd.
I'm at work offshore right now so I can't measure the dimensions of the actual filter to see how it compares to the oilguaurd or one of the other filters one of you may already be using.
Sorry if it's not much help.
I cannot remember, when I get home I'll double check and try to post pictures in my gallery. Not much I can do right now, 200 miles offshore can be a pain sometimes.
For now, musthunt, if I were you, I would go ahead and gather as much dimensional and cost data as possible on the filter elements that you believe to be most closely configured like the one you have. That way, you'll feel like your doing something on a proactive basis, and just may have the starting point of your solution once you get back on shore and verify exactly which filter element you can use as a replacement.
Something else you might try is to contact some filter element manufacturers like OilGuard, Racor, Baldwin, etc. One of these company's was probably making the filters for your unit in the beginning, or may at least already have a cross reference list for you. With time on your hands, you have nothing to lose by getting them involved.
