Hey Guys,
Lots of good info on this site and I appreciate the willingness of the people to help. Anyway, I have a 2003 F350 SD CC Diesel and been looking for tires.
My stock tires are 265 75-16 Load E BFG Commercial. They are very expensive to replace so have been looking on Craig's list and for a set of new (only 600 miles) Goodyear Wrangler ATS 235 85-16 on 8 lug Ion wheels. I checked the measurements online and see that the narrower tire is only 0.1 inch taller but 1 inch narrower. Do you think its a bad idea to buy these?
They have about the same load range so I don't think that is a problem.
Any thoughts?
Thanks Paul
Thanks Porter. My 2 concerns are 1) weigh capacity, since the 265-75 are around 3700#s and the 235-85 around 3042#s. I am towing a 5th wheel that weighs 10,900 empty. and 2) looks of course! :-) They are 1 inch narrower and the stock tires already look a little small on such a big truck!
I don't know what they're asking for those tires on Craigslist, but Commercial Tire in my neck of the woods has a buy 3, get 1 free sale going on right now. A set of 4 Revo's in 285/75/16 10-ply rating (E rated) are a little over $900. That's a pretty good price for tires in this size/rating.
