Hey everyone, I wanted to give a heads up and also see if anyone else has experienced the problem my dad is currently going through.
He just upgraded from his 2010 F350KR to a 2014 F250KR. Hes had the truck a few months and has about 5k miles. Yesterday he was working on the ranch and without him knowing dumped all his transmission fluid in one of the rows. He left the ranch to head into town and while getting on the freeway his RPMs shot up and the truck slowed way down. He pulled over to a safe location and had the truck towed back to the dealership.
Today the dealership says they have no idea what happened. There is no external damage and no reason why the truck would have dumped the fluid. They also said that the oil is burned through and the entire transmission is destroyed. Its all covered under warranty but they say theyve never seen anything like this. Were good customers of theirs and my dad will get a new truck this week, but I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem?
I did that one time only when I looked under the truck there was a huge hole in the tranny case. I caught a rock and kept going on my 7.3L buddy behind me told my I was leaking. I parked it and put a rebuilt in. I've never heard of tranny fluid dropping without a lose plug, crack or bad seal.
I can't figure how a tranny can dump all of its fluid without some type of external damage. Even if over heated it would still have the mojority still inside.
Any chance that someone pulled the plug & then took the time to put it back in, just to add insult to injury. Even on the Ranch, Dad may of had his back turned long enough for someone to stealth in...
Even the nicest guy on the Ranch makes enemies, goes with the territory.
Its possible but from what the dealership said, it was an internal problem. Pressure blew it out and cooked the tranny. I'm going to go in tomorrow to get a face to face explanation but from what they told me all signs point to this being internal.

Wow, that sounds like quite the experience, AvoTow. I'm glad to hear that the dealership is getting your father in a new truck quickly. Let us know what he thinks of it. If you ever need my assistance, feel free to send a PM my way.
I'm going to guess something with the front pump was not put together quite right. Could leak and grind stuff up, couldn't tell until disassembly time.
But to the op, yes first such failure I've heard of.
