I would have that rig scanned by a good diesel mechanic with IDS. Something is way of, you are getting worse mileage than my 68 chevelle with a 427.
how often does the truck go into regen? are you gaining oil (diesel fuel in crank case)?

No,hand calculated. LOM shows 23 hwy and 14-16 city. Spartan tuned. I figure I would get higher if I was to put stock wheels back on and ease up on skinny pedal. But I like my 35s and it's hard to let off the skinny pedal when tuned.

Im not disputing your word at all :
I NEVER get above 2,000rpm & my truck will only get 16.8mpg running empty interstate driving & hand calculated.
It's completely de-Smogged, 3.73 axle & Stock tires.
I just don't see these 8,500lb 6.4's getting 20+ mpg's

I reset after every fill up. I have not timed when it hits 23 after filling up. But I would estimate 15-30 minutes on highway. That's only when I am traveling. It does not hit 23 driving in city traffic.

If you stay on the hwy driving, does it continue to read up around 23 ?
After ive reset mine - it keeps dropping until it gets down under 17 then it stays below 17.

I actually had mine up around 30 today going down a nice flat section of US23 just south of Ann Arbor Mi. with the cruise set a 68 or so. It's not uncommon to be around 26 or 27.
Haven't checked mileage in a while but it was 17.5 going to work and back, about 40% city, the balance highway. Haven't gone a long distant trip with it yet to check an all highway trip, but I would guess it would be around 21 or 22MPG.
That's with a slightly lighter 2wd deleted truck.

What can I say? The SGII gets recalibrated in a sense every time you fill up as you enter the exact gallons you pumped. It always needs that as different fuel nozzles have different shut off points. It is calibrated with the GPS for mileage so I think that should be accurate. I do a hand calculation about every 3rd fill up and it always is within .2 gph or so of the SGII.

My theory on how they can get good mileage is that for the most part the engine is just loafing along at highway speeds when unloaded. When I drive across western Kansas, for example, I never see the rpm's fluctuate, only slight differences in the boost reading.
