What do you guys recommend to replace factory Goodyear Wrangler ATS
I do about 25000miles a year almost all highway but it is snowy and icy
I got 50000miles on these with 6/32 left want to replace soon
was looking at goodyear wranglers silent armours
18" rims
I'm a Michelin man, I try to run them on everything I have that does require maximum off-highway use.
*Edit* Opps just notice I meant to say "I run them on everything I drive that DOES not require maximum off-highway traction. Stupid iphone auto correct.
I replaced the crappy Michelin LS? I think they were, that came stock on my 2011 with Michelin LTX, MS2's awesome dry and wet traction. Never used them in snow but I bet they would be nice. It's a softer compound tire, so the ride is cushy and rolls a bit more in the corners, but the benifit are outstanding traction and whisper quiet on the highway.
I also have the Michelin LTX MS2 tires on my 2009 F150 4X4. Today was the first run in the little bit of snow out on I80 in WYO. Not a real good test for their snow performance but they were fine. I put them on this spring and they have about 10K miles on them and are still looking good.
Just a quick note, for snow and ice, you want sipes, not lugs. I personally bought the duratracs because I had snow and ice in mind. They are severe weather rated so you would not need to chain your vehicle since you are under 10k gvwr. Got to love that mountain snowflake symbol.
I have had the best luck with Firestone Trans Force. I got good traction in snow and ice and good ride and handling. They also lasted around 60k miles for me. I will use them when my stock tires need replacing.
I'm a big fan of the silentarmors. I know several guys who love the duratracks.
Best of all for ice would be studded duratracks, but then you are swapping to a different set for the summer. If you drive enough miles, that can pay off, but it's an investment up front, which can be tough to swallow.
On my old F250 I had Silent Armors and loved them. I am planning to put them on the F150 when I need to replace the factory rubber. I do not trade tires between summer and winter and I hav efound the Silent Armors work well in both situations. the duratracks look great for winter, but I really want a better mannered highway tire.
Cooper A/T3 tires are all the rage in my area. Actually just put them on my truck. So far so good, and at the price point you can't beat them but I'm not totally sold on them being better than a milder Michelin LTX or a more aggressive BFG KO....
Of course, both those tires are significantly more expensive also.
I went with the Toyo At/II's as well and so far I love them. First snow test might be today if the cascades had snow last night. Quiet and they are 10 ply.
Skoiv, what size are your Toyo's? I just bought a set of raptor takeoff wheels to get some winter tires for my 2013 Platinum and have been debating the Toyo's, TA/KO's, or Goodyear Silent Armor. I had Open Country MT's on my last truck, but the tread life was garbage. I like the look of the new AT II's.
I'm making a trip over the cascades for thanksgiving and need the tires before then, so I'm also curious what you think of them in the snow if you did get a chance to drive through any.

Those look nice I did go with the goodyear silent armors they seem good so far tonight will be snow test I hope lol
