Greetings everybody, I have a 1999 Ford F350 7.3 super duty, lariat, crew cab, four-wheel-drive. It's leaking fuel, from the, driver side head. The fuel leak is coming from a brass, or copper, nut, just above the driver side exhaust manifold up pipe. It's a prominent leak, and I can't seem to trace it. This "plug" is just right next to the furthest freeze plug on the driver side rear of the block.
I've already replaced the Fuel Bowl Drain valve Orings, and the valley is bone dry.
If anyone has encountered this problem, for the love of god!! HELP!! Its blowing through a 1/4 tank of diesel in 38 miles!
It runs fine, drives fine, but i have noticed that once the system is priming it leaks, then stops.. once started... It pours... I'm lost..
When you say a 1/4 in rachet, did you mean it has a 1/4 square head. There is a plug on the back end of the drivers head that is the fuel rail plug. It's just outboard of the turbo. If that's it then it's pipe thread and should quit leaking if you tighten it. If that's not it then try to post a pic.
AllaboutMPG, yes. Bolt with a square hole. I tried to tighten it, and it still leaks, if thats even where its coming from. I'll post pics later today, as of right now... need some winks..
I may have misled you. The one I was talking about is on top of the head. I believe it is a test port and has a male square head not a female square head. We'll have to wait on one of the guys who has more rebuild experience to answer this one.
I had a fuel leak as well a while ago on my 2000 Excursion 7.3 and found it to be coming from the fuel bowl. After rebuilding it with new seals and o-rings the fuel leak stopped. Get the blue o'rings as they work better with the low sulfur fuels....
Sieggy, I've already done that.. less than 1 week ago. 2 times.. Because at first I didn't use Viton Type "B" Orings.. And the
valley between the heads.. BONE DRY.
