Yeah, I have an 04 fx 150 if you can sell or trade it in... I have 144K miles and the problems only grow! Get rid of it if you can, I'm unfortunately stuck with it and guess what? I'll never buy any ford again.
Ive had great luck with fords. The company I work for has a fleet of 800 plus f250s up to 750s. They held up better than any others that weve tried. (No im not a ford diehard, they just hold up best to gassfield abuse)...........I ordered up a new pcm......gonna see if it does the trick....
I had same symptom and and tried most of the same fixes plugs coils and removed cats. Problem was it jumped time. I drove a tank full of gas out of it after jumping time. Hard to get going but once it was would get me back and forth to work. No stops on the way. After I figured out it jumped time and doing a little research I knew I was in trouble. Well I got it back last Friday after a complete motor rebuild. Something to check out and pray that's not it.
Still haven't figured out the issue. Tried replacing all of the coils, no change. Pulled the intake, checked all vacuum lines back there. Pulled valve covers. All valve springs look good, cam ok. Is there a way for me to check if the timing chain jumped without pulling the whole cover? I've replaced the guides on the 5.4s before but never tried checking the timing with the timing cover still on (I still have the valve covers off).
