@Jim and Gary: yes they came with both clips, and thanks for the part # lookup. My driveshaft uses the same U joint, front and back. Part #434 in the MOOG/PRECISION Brand. Each joint has 2 caps with 1.062" diameter, and 2 caps with 1.125" diameter. The groove in them must be for a different setup that uses the same joints, I was a little worried about losing surface area contact, but after I pressed them in it felt just fine.
@Dave: I tightened as far as I could get it, which was about 160ft lbs. If it walks off again I will get a new nut and locktight it. I have the u-bolt style retainers for my u joints, and I prob tightened them more than they should've been, but after test drive I didnt hear/feel anything strange.
Went for test drive and NO MORE VIBRATION. With the new timing chain, no emmisions equipment, no vacuum leaks and this vibration fixed, the truck drives better than ever. Runs great.
All thats left on my list is my front passenger rotor. It's in bad shape. Do I need that special 4 pronged socket to get the rotor off?
I dont know, I've been looking all over with a wire brush for a 44 or 50 mark and cant find one. Ill have to read up again on how to tell the difference.
