no start when cold??

I have a 95 7.3 DI couldn't get it to start unless it was plugged in - to save time here is the list completed so far
New glo plugs and injectors, new crankshaft position sensor, changed oil ( 10-30 ) new valve cover gaskets - checked harness connectors and replaced one, checked compression - 310 ( 3 ) 275 (3) 290 (1) 210 (1)
replaced glo plug relay. Ran diagnostic check - no codes - no check engine light. changed fuel filter. High pressure oil pump replaced and injection controll pressure regulator about 40,000 miles ago - Engine is 500,000 plus.

Some white smoke initially when plugged in and starts up quickly. No white smoke when cold and won't start. When it is running - runs fine- for 3 days after injector replacement it started up cold. on the 4th day it started and went about 5 blocks and quit.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated - my guess would be with fuel, but I am out of ideas.

Thanks -- sincerely Jada65

Good compression should be around 360-420.

210 is really low and is quite a bit lower than 310.
I'm not sure if there is enough compression at 210psi to ignite the fuel. Someone with more knowledge maybe able to enlighten us on that.

With 500,000+miles on the motor, Id say it's had a good run. Might look into a rebuild or lower miles used engine.

It has been - I will recheck - sorry for the delay in getting back to you - work is getting in the way of mech. work if you know what I am trying to say. -- thanks so much for taking a moment - I will dbl. chk. to see if something didn't happen there. I picked up EBP sensor this morning - not sure it has anything to do with it but the old one was shot.

sincerely

Thanks oldbird1965 & williameub as well - I will post after the next round of attempts - to update - can't do much about compression at this point --

Seems like the low compression is the pretty clear explanation of hard cold starts. Compression --> heat --> fuel ignition. Plugging the truck in is probably making up for the reduced compression/heat in those low cylinders.

I would repeat the compression test just to confirm, and then get it good and warmed up and do a cylinder contribution test with a scan too / AE / whatever. It'll probably just confirm that the low compression cylinders aren't performing.
