Also, while the EPA may be responsible for the exhaust system I would think Ford could find the engineering talent to make sure the exhaust gas temp sensors work. I'd be pi$$ed too...Its not like its a flux capacitor.
EPA is not 'responsible for the exhaust system', they set targets, HOW to get to the target is up to the manufacturer and their engineers and the technology available. Sounds to me like Ford is having a heck of a time with quality control on the sensors. seems that 4 in a 6 ft section of pipe ought to be enough.

there is clearly some technical reason that they shutdown the system, maybe fear of fire or something when the last sensor doesn't give them the right info. I now have ordered a couple replacement sensors, and will carry my code scanner, and I have the torque app on my phone.
but I have not experienced a problem with my 6.4 or so far with my two 6.7's.

OK!!! You are right! My dealer went back and looked again. THEY ARE DIFFERENT! Now for the NEW part, the 6.7L has one at the back of the DPF called the NOX sensor that is different as well and will shut down the truck too!!!! And that sensor is around $270!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! I am going by the dealership Wednesday morning on the way home from work and compare the two sensors to see of the difference. I will let you guys know. Sorry for the mis-info, I was going on what the parts manager had previously told me.

That is what I what thinking the whole time while I was reading all the posts. I have been deleted for 55k and I have not had any issues. I do realize not everyone can do that with emission testing though, why does big brother think they know what's best. We put all this crap on to make it "cleaner" but we're burning more fuel to do it!! Does that make any sense??? Plus we're having to ADD something else(def), how much difference are we really making in the end??

I wonder if the EPA would just butt out and leave it alone if we would see better mileage and efficiencies just from competition. After all that's what drives a free market, right?

Sorry for the rant, just needed to vent......

Ok now I feel better

The new sensors are at the dealer now, I just didn't have a chance to get by there yesterday. My buddy tells me they look exactly the same, but then I wondered about the parameters that they were set at. We both agreed that I shouldn't count on it, and ordered new sensors. They are just going to trade them out. So I went with the new part number. However, I am still planning on comparing them myself, but it will be Tuesday morning before I can get there. I will let you guys know though.

Sam, they are NOT the same sensors!! The 6.4 has a round electrical connection and the 6.7 sensors have a square connector. They will not work. Sorry for the misinformation prior as we were going on what I had been told by another dealer parts department.

this is the AC3Z part number (I got 2), listed for the 6.7 exhaust temp sensors.
