I am going to try to keep this positive... but... I just had a terrible experience with my dealership regarding the recall for the fuel harness repair. I made the appointment for today first thing in the a.m. so I worked til 3 a.m. so I would be able to invoice and not spend time on the job today. Called at 4 p.m. and they hadnt touched the truck and the best they could do is get to it hopefully by Wednesday. Needless to say I went and pciked up the truck and called the customer care center. I dont think that my dealership understands that people use these vehicles to earn a living. They also tell me that I need to make the arrangements to get a loaner car and they will reimburse me at the end of the repair. This to me is inconvieneint since no one will rent me a truck that can pull a 15000 lb trailer. I would look pretty funny towing a bob cat with a cobalt. Can anyone tell me what is involved in this repair and how long it should take. Also if my tuck sits another day without being looked at is there anything that I can do besides loose another days pay and another day without my truck. Dont take this the wrong way I Love the truck and appriciate that Ford sent me a letter reguarding this repair before something happened. I think its the dealers responsability to take care of the customer and do the right thing.
Im not sure what exactly is involved. But what i always do when i have an issue that i cant settle at a nearby dealership is goto the place i bought my 04' SD. You have a lot more weight to throw around about getting something fixed. Best help i can give you.
Sarge, I just had this exact thing happen to me at my dealer. I took the truck in mind you I had an appointment (7:30 a.m.) and they too did not get to it at all that day. They told me they needed it for a few days and I explained to them thast they would get me a rental and after more then an hour of arguing they gave in and got me a rental. Anyhow if they had done the work that morning I would have had it that night. This is only a one day job. I spoke to another customer in there that day with the same thing I was in for like you and they seemed to have gotten to his truck. I just think these dealers are all money hungry for waranty and recall work and extend themselves out way to far and think it is ok to keep your forty thousand plus dollar truck for a few days to sit in the parking lot. So long story short be persistent with them and demand the work to be done on time and dont forget to call the ford customer service line and complain about the dealer. There are no excuses, but bad scheduling on their part. Next time ask for the service managers truck to use while yours is in the shop LOL. And Sarge at least you got a letter telling you about the recall, I got nothing.
i have had a problem with my truck before, where it burnt out the #3 cylinder... TWICE. the first time they put in a whole new crate engine, except the harness. this first incident was at 5600 miles or so. this same exact thing happened AGAIN.. this time at 13,300 miles. i was assuming it would be a complete new harness and engine, turbo, everyhting. but it was only the crate engine and turbo again. they left the original harness in. i asked them if the harness could be the problem and not the engines, because it has happened repeatedly. im waiting for it to go out again soon, its at 18,700 miles, its almost time to change the engine. could this recall be part of the problem? its just the #3 cylinder running too lean, and this has to do with the fueling system. should i get a look at this when i take this in for a scheduled problem with the transmission on monday? thanks.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. My recall experience was the complete opposite. I had not received the recall notice but decided to drop my truck off on a whim and get it done. They had the truck for two days, and this included a day in the body shop for warranty work. When I picked my truck up, I overheard a tech telling a service adviser to call a customer (whose truck was in for recalls) that they did not have the necessary parts and they could either keep it a few more days or he could come pick it up. Unfortunatley, for some, you included, this bs happens due to ****-poor customer servide/no foresight/lack of planning. They should never accept the vehicle if they're swamped or haven't checked to make sure the parts are available. As far as a rental vehicle goes, rent one from an equipment leasing/rental yard and turn the bill into Ford when you're done if that's what they suggested.
It took them 8 days to complete all the recalls and do some transmission work as well, but they refused a loaner. I was glad I have an extra Ford lounging around. If you find a dealer that will give you a loaner, I don't think the dealers insurance will allow them to give you a truck to pull a trailer.
Well I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with a few problems. I didnt get a letter either, I miss spoke, I got the notice from Ford.com. my dealer doesnt ever offer a loaner car service for anything which is obserd. Anyway I still love the truck and have had no other issues. I wouldnt trade the truck for the world. Thanks for all the great replies and I hope the will get it done on Wednesday and stop screwin around.

And the name of the dealership is >>>>>>>
Just as it is appropriate to compliment a dealership by name, there is absolutely no reason, what so ever, to keep from mentioning the name of a dealership who does not give reasonable service.>>>

I had mine done in bits in pieces, 1st ICP module 1.5 hrs/ 2nd wire harness 1.5 hrs. ICP (thinking iam correctly calling it right) went bad so got replaced by the new model. Than recall came out all I needed was the wire harness. I think your dealer may not have a competent tech I would try another dealer. 2004 350 DRW lb. Hope that helps
I had my in for the recall and THEY offered the loaner! Said it was to be on Fords tab and is part of the recall process. I asked for a truck they were gonna give a f150 but it had a flat so I ended up with an 05 excursion. Carried a pallet of stuff in the back and it was plenty dirty when it was returned but they didnt bat an eye about it, as I had asked for a truck.
My BIL is scheduled for the recalls and they offered him a rental also and he lives about 200 miles away, no sweat they said, its part of the process. Need to get with the dealer management I guess. I have a f150 IN FOR WARRENTY REPAIR AND NO RENTAL WAS OFFERED!
I have a letter from the president of Customer service that says they will provide a loaner and if needed they will provide a truck while it is down for the recall. If anyone needs a copy I will scan it and send it to you.
