Engine shuts down at idle

Okay so after the new injector cups now the engine shuts off after it is idling for a few minutes. When I turn the key on if I hear the fuel pump it will start. When the truck shuts off by itself and I try to restart it, I won't hear the fuel pump nor will the tach show any RPM. I have to let the truck sit for about 10 minutes and it will fire right up and do the same thing again. The last time was the morning before we had to fly back and I noticed a very brief engine light when it shut down and when I waited 10 minutes it started right up without a engine light staying on. So the common thread is cam sensor but the dealer replaced the cam sensor under recall less than 600 miles ago. ATAP All Things Are Possible

Do you have the Hutch Mod done? I see you've harpooned the tank but no mention of Hutch in your sig.

How old is the fuel filter?

I would drain the fuel bowl, take the cap and filter out and cycle the key a few times to determine whether the fuel pump is doing its job or not.

Hutch mod is done and fuel filter only has 700 miles on it. Fuel filter was replaced after cleaning the tank and doing the tank mods. When the truck does not shut off it runs down the road great. When the engine dies at idle and I try to restart it the fuel pump is not working unless I let it sit for 5-10 minutes.

Check fuel pressure. Maybe the pump is dying.

Have you had a chance to cycle the key with the fuel bowl cap removed?

Seems like quite a few fuel pumps are going out lately. Possibly cold weather related?

Gelled fuel do have a negative effect on fuel pumps. But that would be another issue to deal with.

Not cold weather related, it was fifty deg and I had fresh fuel. When I try to recycle the key, I do not have any fuel pump buzz and a no start. When it will start, I have a pump buzz and the engine will start. I didn't have time to check the pump for power but I know there was no pump buzz. The funny thing is not having the tach read anything and the Cam sensor was just replaced by the Ford dealer. I will see what conditions have to be met to activate the fuel pump or not.
