This is probably not the correct forum on the site to ask this question, but I have a 66 F250 in which the PO installed a 1988 460 block with 73 heads. It has a mechanical fuel pump even though I believe that 88s were fuel injected and would have had an electric fuel pump. I can find a mechanical pump that fits an 83-87 block. Does anyone know if that would fit an 88 block? I can always take the old one off and take it with me to the parts store, but thought I would see if anyone knows the answer. Thanks
They didn't change blocks by years. I am going out on a limb and say get one for any 460 truck engine and I will bet you a cold RC Cola that it will work.
Thanks John - the guys at NAPA told me the same thing. At the moment the fuel pump I have requires a pressure regulator to toggle the pressure down or the carb will flood. I want to replace that with something that puts out 5-7 PSI so I can get rid of the pressure regulator - and one less connection in the fuel line to the carb. Looks like Edelbrock makes one that would do the job (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ed...view/make/ford) but is listed as fitting 75-79 and 83-87 460s. Seems a bit of an odd collection of years.
