I got a 86 f3500 with a 460 it originally had a mechanical fuel pump on it I had to change the block and the new on doesn't have mechanical fuel pump set up. So I need to find a aftermarket electronic fuel pump what's the best one and what psi do I need? Also I've heard that some of these trucks have a low pressure fuel pump in the tank that are stock is this true? Thank you for your guys help
Tell us more about your truck. What carb are you running, for instance? The reason for that question is that some carbs, like Edelbrocks, like lower inlet pressure - less than 6 psi.
Bruno is being funny. But his point is that a 460 is notorious for passing anything but a gas station - with the stock carb. Yours will get to the next station even faster.
Holleys are usually fine with higher pump pressures, like 8 PSI, so you should be fine with the added electric pump. But I don't know for sure about an in-tank pump, although I do think there should have been one on your truck. However, that's a guess and others will know better.
I do not know if the above pump is any good, but it looks just like the one on this old truck and it's been working good for many years. It sits there making a clicking noise.
