Blasphemy !!!!
My old man has a. Clean 96 swb rwd xlt 4.9 auto 115000 mi. He bought iit cheap form a kid, that cooked it numerous times.there was so much burnt oil in the block I swaped out bottom ends.I wish I would have found this site sooner....... well its on its 3rd bottom end the first one was from a wreck and had a bad rod. This one currently is from an 86 of unknown mileage.and its getting noisy. Since the day he took ownership it has had thee infamous lean code both banks.he has had this truck since 06. I am at my wits end with this thing new 02sensors double gasketed intake/exhaust gasket. With avation sealer. On int and permatex copper on exhaust. All new or pressure tested vaccum lines and evap.new evap valve. Egr valve cleaned an tested Maf. Redid all engine and computer grounds. Also have flow tested injectors and checked fuelpump flow and pressure evey thing tests fine even swaped the ecu with 1 form another 4.9 auto maf 96 f150. Well we have deciced to put an 01ls 5.3 in it computer and all with trans. Cause I just plain give up on fords 1996 OBDII system. Just not sure how to get all the gauges to work right without hacking the silverado cluster into the truck.,....!?!
