Alright bought a 1988 f250 4x4 last week already had a new tank and fuel pump put in it.. Alright when I put it in 4H I want to lung forward and bounce up and down like it's trying to go faster but won't... 4L I don't think does it because it's such a low gear...
Now for my second problem coolant is coming from the top of the water pump a lil inch and half hose going from the intake to the water pump.. It's a 460 efi.. And does fine setting there idling but hit the gas and starts to over heat..
Your 4x4 issue is most likely either different tire sizes on the front vs the rear, or different gear ratios in the front axle vs the rear. Read the tags on both axles and post the results if you can't understand them by yourself. Note that you'll likely need to clean the tags with a scraper or wire brush to be able to read the info stamped into them.
For your cooling issue, replace the failing hose immediately and that should solve the problem
Yea my tires are the same size just they are a lil bald in the back from the last owner but all the same size.. And going to oriellyautoparts now to get the hose and a thermostat just to make sure... What would getting a cooler thermo hurt anything I know my grandpas used a cooler thermo to just operate on normal conditions...
Yea I turned it on, while on gravel to check out see if it will work just got the truck a week ago... :/.. And I was planning and getting a tempature cap but don't know what psi I should get 7psi,20,24..
