Hello all;
I am trying to track down a coolant leak on my 97 F-250. Its leaking from the bottom of the front of the motor. I do not think that it is a waterpump because the weep hole apears dry. I am leaning towards it being the short 45 degree hose that runs from the bottom of the water pump to an oil cooler(?) by the oil filter. The only other obvious option would be the gasket that seals the water pump to the front of the timing cover. This truch had a severe corosion issue when I purchaced it. Any other ideas on things to check would be apprecated.
Is there any easy way to change the short hose without removing the water pump? If this does not solve my problem, then I will be resealing the water pump. From the looks of it, water pump removal (and subsequent resealing) may be the only way to access this hose.
if it is that little hose it might be easier to remove the oil cooler attachment, i had read a post on it on www.rv.net a while back on a guy who had a hard time getting to it on his efi 460,maybe lots of vasaline might do the trick,,,,hope its not the timing cover corroding,,good luck let us know what it turns out to be,,,update just looked it up at that site,,the post read as that hose being part#NAPA-8599,,gates brand #21909,he said he needed to remove nothing just took 2 people-1 hour to fight the F- hose on
