I have a 1999 F-250 Superduty V10, it's a great truck. I had 235/70/16 tires before I upsized and my truck handled perfectly. It was quick to respond and drove straight with no alignment issues whatsoever. I bought 285/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs which I love but my handling has completely changed. I understand the wider tires are going to affect steering and I'm still not experiencing any "pull" left or right but there seems to be a lot more play in my steering.
My question: Is there a way to fix it? Are there aftermarket components I need to tighten up the steering? I understand an alignment has nothing to do with it, what do I need to adjust?
Steering a nit off, you need a bit of alignment and is not actually lose.... odds are your camber is is a bit off and you might need a little tow in.... With steering it is easy to confuse bad alignment with something mechanically wrong... If your front pinion angle is to low then you will feel lose, if it is too high you will find it easy to lose control.... the sweet spot gives you just enough resistance without that "lose" feeling....
So the solution is to what? I don't have the tools and know how to fix it myself without someone showing me. Should I just take it to a shop and have an alignment done?
