I am trying to add power steering to my 58 F-100 and thought I could do it cheeper myself than buying a kit (Note: Buy the kit, all R&D is done less head banging). Anyway, I took a gear box from a mid 80's chevy 2WD pickup and sent it to have the gears reveresed so pitman arm would swing correct for location of box, added new power steering pump, hoses and fluid. But now, when I start the truck up the steering wheels and tires, move on their own. First all the way to the left, hit the stop then all the way to the right! Can's stop the wheel and, if I accelurate the wheel turns so fast it could probably do serious damage to the digits. Is just the hoses on the wrong way or what???
Any information will be greatly appreciated!
Jeff
