Ford convert

I have never restored a ford pickup before and just got a 46
With 289 3sp on floor any 3 on tree conversion ideas?
kit avail?
column add onto kit?
I know most people convert the other way to the floor from column but I learned how to drive on one and am old school.

Pickups kept the floor shift till early 50s, you might try measuring the same period car steering column as your 46, they had column shift.

Ford passenger cars switched to column shift in 1940. I think the PU's switched in 1948. You can probably get just the tube and shifter stuff off one of those and swap it onto your PU's box and shaft. Measure the lengths to make sure it's long enough.

Just about done!

Well I have had this pick up less than a month( bought it on my join date to this forum) and it is just about how I like it.
I put pics in my "me album" first one is how I got it second 2 are after I rebuilt the motor and the rest are after I finished the paint and body. I had to cut a few corners and make/refurbrish a few parts but it's a nice driver truck and I have about $5000 total in it and got'er done in less than a month. I'm pretty happy overall.

Just shows you built a truck that certainly got somebody's attention. I've always hating seeing a vehicle I've worked on go down the road, but look at this way, it gave you the skills and the know how to use on your next project when it comes along. No matter what, family should be the first priority. Good luck and don't be a stranger around here.
