Hello all, My name is Hudson and I am 16. I am a owner of a 2005 Ford Expo EB. It is my first car and I love this dog to death. She has the 5.4L 3V and is a beautiful sounding and feeling motor. The mid to top end power of this motor is very nice but I'm looking for a little more power.

I at least wanna be able to run with the new (stock) Mustang 5.0Ls

I live close to the new "Circuit of the Americas" race track in Austin and the Texas 80mph toll roads so I'm just looking for a vehicle that will impress up to 100mph. My neighbor does drag racing too and I would enjoy taking it out to the track with them. So I may tow a second race car for them too if needed.

But, I don't plan on using this vehicle for towing much other than maybe dragging my brothers chevy home. So, I'm planning on dropping the rear gearing down some to at least 3.15 or maybe less. I'm running a 3.31 non-limited slip currently.

My next idea is to add a supercharger and camming it slightly. I don't want that stroked out 60s muscle car sound. I also plan on upping the torque converter, stiffer shocks, and high performance brakes. Wider tires and a lower stance are in the plans too.

My last thoughts are to raise the compression, get a performance crankshaft, and possibly run nitrous.

This motor is running almost 200k so when that rolls over I will fix the original cam phasers with newer redesigned ones. And lastly but most importantly, before doing all this work I will pull the motor and rebuild everything from top to bottom.

I understand this will cost a bit but I plan on this vehicle being my daily driver for 10-15 years before I'm ready to put her away or maybe pass her on to my niece. My neighbor and I will be preforming all labor.

ALL IN ALL, I'm building the 2nd gen Ford SVT Thunder that should have be produced a long time ago.

Isn't that what a supercharger does?

You're going to have a real hard time running low 13's in a 6000 lb truck without major work. A blower would be a good start though. If you go the supercharged route it would be beneficial to lower your compression ratio so you can run more boost on pump gas. If you go nitrous that would be a different animal. Cam choices would depend on future plans. Might also want to see what options are available for the heads. You also want to put lower (numerically higher) gears in the rear end to increase acceleration. Probably around 4.10's or 4.56's with a locker or limited slip of some type. Putting a higher stall converter would be good. Shift kit for the trans would help. Longtube headers and full exhaust. Also remember because it's so heavy it will be very hard on parts so it will probably be going through transmissions and rear end's depending on how you drive it. Here's an inspirational video for you

A supercharger will do wonders for your power! (ask me how I know). But to do it correctly you will need to do a lot of supporting mods such as tune, injectors and exhaust. You may be limited on your choice of throttle bodies if yours is a drive by wire setup as well as mass air flow sensors.

Tell me about your supercharger c_hohensee.

SilverSS, I will look into simple things for lowering the weight when dragging. I will take the spare tire off and other things. Maybe lighten or remove the doors if I decide to push her faster. Surely the rear gearing will change and I'm looking at heavy duty LSDs right now. The shift Kit would be part of my trans upgrade too. I'm also getting as good of a cooling system as I can including for the trans, rear diff, motor, and intercooler. Might due the PS cooler since I want to track race this and I'd like the steering to be reliable.

Any opinions on lighter drive shafts or head options?

I would love to supercharge a navi. It's basically a GT500 motor when you think about it and the 4r100 and air suspension makes for a hell of a vehicle.

I haven't looked at superchargers too much but I want one that whines like a 2003 cobra. Gonna be running high boost too. As small a pulley as I can Buy

Go for it !!! You will look upon this time of your life, fondly. Your wallet will be a lot lighter. But will be worth it.
