It's been a bad weekend

So I had a head gasket let loose on our 07 f350 Saturday and then my dad passed away Sunday night.
Since my son has an 06 f250 we decided to do the repairs that way if his ever fails we can do his also.
We made a lot a progress Sunday on the tear down but does any one have any in site on removing the blower box for the ac/heat
I'm sure I will be asking more questions
Thanks for any help

half the A/C box cover can be removed without having to do any recovery or refill and allow "enough" room to get the heads on and off. With a skinny enough ratchet/torque wrench even with head studs. Recently saw a thread on someone doing it, which gave me hope!

I don't have any experience with the head gaskets yet. But I DID lose both my parents in the not too distant past and it's rough, I offer my deepest sympathies.... and if it helps at all time does help heal the wounds. Try and dwell on the good times you two had I'm sure He'd want it that way.

Thanks everybody for the kind words
He's in a better place now, he's been in poor health for a long time.
As for as the ac box goes I talked to the guy that fixes my work vans.
There are 6 nuts that hold it on three above and three below the box holding the heater core behind the glove box. I already evacuated the system and have the equipment to vacuum and recharge.
Don't forget to disconnect the three vacuum lines under the heater core and remove the dip stick tube for the transmission.
It was said that you don't have to remove it but I did it gives you lots more room.

Sorry to hear about your father. On the air box issue it does help. And having just redone head gaskets myself I found while working on the passenger side head bolts/studs that removing the drivers side motor mount and tilting the engine over a little made a huge difference when reinstalling the head. Also if you're putting in studs use o-rings to hold them in place in the head while setting it on the block so you don't have to try and fit them into the head once it's in place.

Best of luck.

Yep know that trick my guy said to use a rubber band to hold the rear four in the rear of the drivers side head when you put it on to make it easier
