I have a 55 and was thinking about removing the drip rail. Some times I like the look without it and with it. I know I could run into issues doing this. I would like to know the pros and cons. Thanks!
The obvious "con" is everytime it's raining, and you open the door, you're going to get wet! You could be opening a can of worms as far as any pinholes or weak metal there, too.

Strongly agree.
One of the dumbest things Detroit did, was to get rid of the drip rail. The incorporated rail in the door seals do not work as well in my opinion. Another dumb thing was dispensing with the wing vent. Can be raining buckets outside, but with your vent just cracked open, you can still stay dry and get a little fresh air.
first there are three pieces of thin metal that come together there... removing the rail and patching the roof to the cab is not a project for the weak hearted or the less than expert welder.
as mentioned before this is also a notorious rust out area on the cabs which can or can't mean replacing lots of pinholes and rusted metal.
We discussed it and the consensus was to fill it... we just filled it with kitty hair then glass and worked a nice slope from the roof line into the gutter...
there are some pics on my page and I've got a few more if you're interested..
analyze your fab skill well before your put air to the cutoff tool
