Hey all! New to the site, this is my first post...I'm Ron from Michigan, I have a '91 F150 with 160,000+ on a 5.0 that up until a few days ago ran like a dream. I pulled out of the driveway, got about a half mile down the road (never exceeding 25mph) and it suddenly just quit, no sputters or anything, simply stalled out. It turns over but won't catch. Got a half-tank of fuel in it.
I replaced the coil and the PCM module on the distributor, still no go. It used to have twin tanks, the switch is still in the proper position. Any thoughts?
Your input is greatly appreciated.
^^^X2.
By the way that is a ICM on the distributor and not a PCM.
PCM: Powertrain Control Module, AKA the Computer.
ICM: Ignition Control Module and is of the circuit type TFI.
TFI: Thick Film Ignition or Integrated. An ignition module comprised of a custom integrated circuit, Darlington output device and associated thick film integrated components.
Verify that there is spark at the plugs. If you do not have spark, look for that problem. If you have good spark, check fuel pressure. If fuel pressure is steady and spark is good, Look into injectors not working. Sounds like electrical/electronic to me.
