What is a good programmer/chip to increase power and fuel mileage in a 2004 F-250 powerstroke? What are the pros and cons of doing this?

 

The only way to tune on a 6.0L is through a programmer. A chip was only possible on the 7.3L's.

That being said, using a programmer works great. The most popular choice by 6.0L guys is an SCT device, since it can hold custom tunes. There is another option that we offer which will hold our custom tunes, and it is called the Infinity. It is a touch screen monitor/programmer/scan tool/datalogger. It has many more features than just an ordinary programmer.
