Chips

Hey everyone!

I have been reading all of the threads in here and cannot make up my mind. What chip would be good for a 6.0. Mine currently has 57000 miles on it and no problems at all..."knock on wood" I would like to add a chip to get better mileage. I was thinging about the hypertech Econ but am not sure. Are they worth it? HAs anyone had a long history of success with any? Would you just leave the dang thing alone?

Thanks!

if you read almost any thread on this site about programers you will find that everyone loves the SCT w/ custom tunes. the only thing better than an SCT will be coming out in the near future from Spartan Diesel Tech and its called the phalanx.

yes, I have the bully dog right now, and im very happy with it. I will eventually go with just about everyone else on here and get a SCT with custom tunes. That seems to be the best tunner on the market right now. do some searching and I think you will find that SCT is what everyone will recomend.

well the SCT seems very advanced. I have no idea about how to change the shifting points. I am just looking for a little bit of power and possibly some fuel mileage help without tearing up my truck.

SCT's are as advanced as you want them to be. you don't have to change shift points (you can). you tell your tuner exactly what you want (for you mileage and safe power it seems) then they email you the tune you upload it to the programmer and flash your truck. maybe a little more work than something off the shelf but with anything you have to atleast plug it in once to the truck.

it has "canned" tunes on it as well (I beleave), it comes with 3 tunes already on it. You can get custom tunes as well. Whitch makes it a very nice tunner

cool.....where would be a good place to buy it? Also will the Ford dealership be able to see that it has been plugged up to the truck?

yes they can tell if you have had a chip in the truck. two things here. 1. have been told that you dont lose any warrenty with a SCT, 2. if you take the tunner out, and disconect the batteries then ground the positive and negative cable together then hook the bat back up I have been told that this will erase all memory of a tunner being in the truck. I have not done this but that is what I have read. SCT can be bought in numerous places online. just do a search. Xtreme Diesel Performance - XDP Diesel Performance Parts is one
