My alternator just went flat on my 96 f350 with a 5.8L.
Any common upgrades with donor parts to upgrade like a 3G or whatever. Stock replacement is a 95 amp. Just looking for any ideas, tips
Yes, the 95A is already a 3G, albeit a small case one, so you already have the proper harness to install a bigger alternator. You can search for a large case 3G of the same configuration as yours and you'll have an 130-160A output. The large case is easy to tell apart because there are three radial rows of 2 holes in the front face of the case, just behind the pulley (yours has 4 holes in the same arrangement). Fixing your current alternator probably is a $10 ordeal (brush replacement, maybe a regulator replacement) and a good measure to keep a spare at hand.
