Hello everyone Thanks in advance for all replies.
I just bought a 04 f350 SRW 4wd My ? is it only has a heated mirror on drivers side is this oem or did it get replaced through the years
Thanks for reply. There is no heated mirror symbol on mirror
I will check tonight when I leave, but I am pretty sure ONLY the driver's side has the symbol - and I don't believe I've seen it "light up" when on either.
No the defrost doesn't light up on the mirror. I can't remember now whether both mirrors had the symbol or not. Also on the 6.0 trucks the mirror defrost is on automatically, no switch for it. Are you going by just the little symbol in the mirror or experience from frost in the morning with only having the one mirror defrost?
My late built 04 has heated mirrors on both sides, maybe its a after market mirror, I thought when you turn the defrost or heat on that's when the mirror starts to work, Hmm see I learn something new every day here
Did you have a frosty morning and only one mirror defrosted? If so then you have something wrong in the passenger side mirror. Not sure how easy or even if you can replace the element without replacing the glass. Could just be one of the wires corroded through or something too though.
Take a flashlight and peek in around the mirror and see if you can find the little wires.
They are at the lower edge of the large mirror.
Here is a set of photos I did on how to take the mirror out.
See that red marking that is what you need to work loose with a flat blade screwdriver
You can see the 2 heater wires in this photo
If you need help I can find the post I did on removing the mirror for you.
One thing you want to do is to pop the motor drive pins out of the back
of the mirror and not pull then out of the rubber of the motors. They are a
very big PITA to get back in the robber.
