anyone know of a good replacement for a distributor cap for a ford 1977 f250?
along with the wires for the spark plus, that connect to the distributor cap.
so far I have replaced the alternator, belt, and put 8 new spark plugs into my truck today from autozone. is NAPA better?
My preference is NAPA, they usually have a higher quality product than the other chain stores. They're also more used to dealing with the heavy stuff like semi's and off road equipment.
You don't get that "deer in the headlights" look when you ask for something that's not in the computer.

Here in my little town in the Pacific North Wet, we have an Auto Zone, NAPA, Parts Pro and O'reillys with a Burger King behind it and I think the employees have a time card at both places! Any way, I put Auto Zones "life time" warranty plug wires, cap and rotor on my '75 F-100 (360) and FoMoCo plugs. Pick and choose carefully and go with what your wallet will let you do!
The quality and durability of wires seems to vary quite a bit. The "standard" quality may struggle to make one plug change. I'd go "premium" or "lifetime" on the wires if you can. Standard Autolight plugs are cheap and seem to work fine.
I watched my coil wire burn through and start arcing on the water neck in my truck two days ago. Fixed it (or thought I did) and started it back up and ran for 30 sec and burned through again! New wires from napa. Fixed it again and this time wrapped first three inches with electrical tape and has been working for last two days. I have some wires and plug wire shrink tube coming from jegs should be here Wednesday.
I am in the process of switching my stock ignition over to msd and you would be surprised to find that it isn't that much more expensive and the quality is way better. My cap only cost 29 bucks for my 400. Idk what you are looking at for usage but a better spark never hurt, at least I've never heard of it hurting ha ha
Never heard of that happening before. I've run only NAPA plug wires for twenty years on my dentsides. Bought the lifetime wires the first time and haven't paid for a set since. They've probably been changed three or four times each. When I buy reman parts, I always get NAPA parts with the lifetime warranty. Costs a bit more up front, but cheaper down the road.
I only have a choice between NAPA and O'Reilly's where I live. The guys at my local NAPA are great. The O'Really's seems to hire McDonalds rejects.
Yes I have a box as well and just added the msd 8418 cap adapt to lose the socket style distributor cap.
You can open a can of worms with some people saying its better than stock....
VocaTexas- my wires say something like "wired for life" on them picked them up from napa. IDK if they are the lifetime ones or not for sure.
