Hello, wondering where I could find specs. on a passanger side spindle. Need to now what the size of the hole that the tie rod end goes into. thank you.
I am trying to find out if the hole for the tie rod end is worn out. I am having problems with a shimmie in the front end. I know me front tires are cupped. But right now I can not afford to purchase new ones at this time. I even called the dealerships in the area and they cann't tell me anything but to go on line to Helm's.com for shop manual. I have the shop manual for my F-350 pick-up, paged through it to see if that info. was given, and it was not so why spend the money I don't really have for something that is not going to help. Like I said in the beging, I just need to know the size of the hole the tie rop end goes into so I can check to see if it is shot or not. Thank you.
Under normal circumstances IF the ball stud of the tie rod end is still tight as installed in the steering knuckle or spindle all should still be good and wouldn't be causing you any problems
I've never heard of a published or widely known spec for that hole.
A cupped tire especially if on just one side suggests worn components or perhaps a ball joint. Since you don't mention your year or vehicle type I'm assuming you have a ball joint front suspension?
Depending on the condition of your rear tires and the time before you're ready to diagnose and repair the front rotating them rear-to-front will buy you some time.
Another thing to try would be properly lubricating every front end part with a Zerk which would slow down anything else from deteriorating before they're all past the point of getting by for now.
