Unhappy Light wiring problem

Hi all well bought my 3rd ford truck used this ones a 2003 superduty diesel just couldn`t get past a gas station with that 95 anymore and this is the problem went to hook my trailer up and found someone had cut all the wires to the trailer plug and had other jumper wires hooked in hanging under the truck in the casing too. So hooked everything back up color to color cut the extra jumper wires out only lights I got was running lights on the trailer after checking better yep there was a problem in the wiring under the bed so went to junk yard found a wiring set that was good cut it after the fuel tank 12 wire all same color and ran it everything worked except license plate lights without starting the truck now last night took truck out tail lights dim, blinkers both blink real fast when you turn 1 on plus the back light on the cab blink an when you step on the brakes all the tail lights go out haven`t even hooked the trailer or the brake unit up yet check my fuses and there good also no backup lights need help really bad as need truck daily and it`s only month old to me

Sounds like there is a wire that is not grounded properly, or could be that you have a wire that should be ground but have hooked up to a power. A 12V test light will be your best friend in this situation. If you can get a friend to help you out on this. Go back to where you spliced in all the wires, on the truck side not the junkyard side, and start over. Have your friend in the truck E-Brake on, Truck off. Have your friend to use the left turn keep it there until you find with the test light, then Right turn, Brake, running lights, so on and so on. Write down what the color of the wire is and what it does. A wiring schematic will help out a lot. Don't trust the junkyard wires cause that one is blue or orange doesn't mean that is what belongs on the truck.

I know back at the plug side rear of the truck, white is the ground. Good luck.

well took your advice and climbed back under there today and tested found everything hooked everything up with the white ground everything worked great lights, blinkers, brakes went out tonight with lights on now that it`s dark and same problem you step on the brakes with the lights on back lights go out, turn the blinkers on they flash real fast and both right and left an brake light on cab flash beginning to think maybe the dealer sold it to me like this because never drove it at night and bought it in the day light any other idea`s beside replacing the whole thing from front to back
