ebpv rebuild

A pretty straight forward thing, but, the instructions say "assemble the turbo to the ebpv, connecting the linkeage, insert a feeler gauge between the valve and seat and apply 10lbs of spring guage pressure on the linkage until the feeler guage falls out"...kinda'. That doesn't make any sense at all. If you pull on the linkage, the valve closes not opens. After honing the bore lightly, the new plunger moves with considerable resistance. More than 10 lbs are needed to move it. I mean, it moves smoothly...but nowhere near 10lbs smoothly. Does anyone know how to adjust that linkage from the ebpv to the turbo? When I asked Clay about it he said I needed to probably not hone any more because that would increase the likelihood of a leak.

The feeler gauge is held against the stop by the spring when the valve is open. Pulling on the linkage closes the valve, and moves the valve off the stop, dropping the gauge.

Also, are you moving the plunger dry? I think it needs to be oiled, but I can't remember for sure.

Sorry to high jack but I'm trying to delete mine and can't get the rear cover off. The snap ring is off. I hit the rod some but didn't knock it out. Thanks
