How long are the runners from the opening to the valve on
the stock head?
The reason for the question is when I get around to pulling the
intake and cleaning it I was thinking I would clean the runners
to the vales or any soot. I need to know if I can reach in and
get most loose and then suck it up with a vacuum.
I have done what your thinking and I believe it worked ok. I used a plumbers brush from the hardware store. It bends a little and I never lost it in there . I kept the shop Vac (with a piece of 3/8 hose taped to the nozzle) running the whole time and made a couple more laps with the vac around all the ports after finishing with the brush. The hose went in farther than the brush. Maybe 6-8 inches on the hose. I would have liked to get it cleaner but dang, I wasn't going to pull the heads to do it because the pistons would have needed cleaning and then......where does the madness stop?

At the front license plate of the car behind your truck.
Kinda gooey when you start trying to deal with it. Look closely, it's thicker than you might think at first glance. I'm not sure why it got like that. I WANT to blame the EGR but from what I read from Bismic and others it likely begins with incomplete combustion making another trip back through the intake via the EGR system.

The back 4 ports on mine were pretty gunked up and I didn't have an EGR. I did, however, have a VERY active CCV--LOL.
