I purchased a 2008 F550 boxthat truck ato month ago from athe small dealetcircle that has a remanufactured motor from Ford with only 1k miles. The truck has 109k total miles on it. I had a local shop in houston change the oil and noticed a small drip afterward by the drain plug. I took it back to them to look it over and they noticed the pan had been ground down with a grinder or something and a hairline crack near the plug. Their solution to fix it was to cut a small circle off my pan and one off another 08 pan and weld it on. This would aliveate lifting the motor and replacing the entire pan. I trusted their judgement unfortunately. When they attempted to weld the piece to my drainpan there was a minor explosion about like a shotgun blast and a cloud of smoke. So far we know the built up pressure from the blast blew the glow plug harness off and who knows what else. They are currently tearing it down to diagnose the damage. Any suggestions as to what to look for? Blown seals, sensors???? I hope that I can trust them to fix it correctly. How do you guys recommend I handle the matter? I don't want to have major problems arise down the road when the new motor warranty is up. This is a small powerstroke shop not a chain.
I'd have them pay for a replacement motor...a pan explosion will likely kill everything in the motor and since it bled the glow plug harness off...not good at all
yes, get it out of there. They should have insurance and to be sure I would file with your insurance and let them sue the shop or the shops insurance. The guys who blew up the motor need to be kept as far from and truck as possible.

I would give them a chance to make ot right. Probably needs new seals. I doubt anything major such as damage to the rotating assembly or block damage. See what they come up with and ask for a engine warrenty.

My buddy picked up a 6.4 out of ohio and it had a rust whole in the oil pan, we unbolted the motor mounts and used an engine hoist to lift it up like 2 or 3 inches and they got the old pan out and the new pan in
, they also had to unbolt the turbo oil line
