I'm looking for some advice on how to best setup our conversion bus for our electronics. Running a TV, xbox, 2 300w amps and some LED lights off our second deep cell battery and found that we're pulling more than putting in from the alternator. I've read dual alternators, upgrading alternators, adding a third battery even adding a generator! Just looking to understand if there are any best and common practices.
I ask more out of curiosity. This same topic has been discussed at length in the Electrical Systems/Wiring forum here on FTE. A quick search for either "dual alternator" or "3G upgrade" should point you to a usable thread.
I know there was a thread somewhere specific to upgrading an alternator but can't remember which forum it was in now.
Also try posting your question in the Electrical Systems forum--it can't hurt. From what little I know increasing the alternator output wouldn't be necessarily related to the engine, more so the internal components.
I would imagine, but am not 100% certain, that dual alternators were an option on the E450 vans. You can also get a high-output aftermarket alternator.
I'd also suggest adding another 1-2 batteries, and also considering solar to keep them charged. You have plenty of room on your roof, I'm sure!
