Just purchased the Escape XLT V6 2X4 and noticed that the owners manual has no reference to performing the oil change. As I do my own oil changes was, needing to know what the drain plug torque is and if there any tip on removing the filter without getting oil on the exhaust. Also the book calls out Synthetic 5-20W. What does the community use?
Thanks, Tom
I just tighten it. Spilling the oil is another matter. Some say that you can wrap the exhaust in foil. I tried that but made a bigger mess than without. Basicly I say the heck with it and let it drip. after the new filter is installed I wipe up what mess there is. No big deal really. 5W20 is ok. Wal-Mart has it sometimes. They also have the best price on the Motorcraft 820S filters.
I have the Mazda twin, the Tribute. It says in the manual that 5w30 is OK so that's what I use. I have 2 Ford trucks and now the Mazda. I by oil by the case.
