LPG engines run on the liquid lpg, not vapor, your BBQ runs on vapor, the forklift's you see running around run on liquid lpg, most tanks have exits for both. the regulators are specific to fuel type. Metering systems for delivery are set up for specific requirement's think about your lpg tank as if it were a tank of air, if you remove ten lbs of vapor pressure thru a regulator it will deplete the pressure quickly as propane replaces the pressure slowly as it has to boil off to turn to a gas. in order to boil it must reach its boiling point. -50*F so the tank cools, thus the pressure drops as the vapor already in the tank cools, this is why the ice forms on the tank when you use your big propane burner to boil water for crab..if you use liquid from bottom of the tank the pressure in the tank drops only a tiny bit, and the lpg expands and boils in the metering system, not the tank, my .02
yes.. can be tricky so be carful study other systems for safety and performance, remember if the engine make more power it makes more heat. more power is more load on piston rings and higher EGT'S, TO HIGH WILL MELT HER DOWN, to help control egt's look into water injection...
this is the kit I am running on my motor. the kit was available from TS Performance.
I am not sure if it is still available. all parts can be purchased separate. Beam T60 T50 Two Stage Propane Regulator

I am running a forklift tank mounted with the brackets off of a forklift. I have no problem smoking the tires from a rolling start (no brake stand required) on a 9000 lb plus truck. I pull a fifth wheel up the mountains from 700' elevation to 6500' elevation, without propane it will use 3/4 tank of diesel up, with propane it uses 1/4 tank up the hill.
I do have to shut the propane down on the longer grade over 5 miles at 6% plus, due to the egt's getting to high.
