5 speed with 351C
I would like to mate a late model T5 5-speed manual trans behind my 351 Cleveland that's going in my '51 F1 project. I know that I can get an adaptor for the older small block bellhousing but I was thinking it would be cleaner (and hopefully easier) to use the late model bellhousing/hydraulic clutch if possible.
Does anyone have some experience with this combo?? will it work?? What clutch/flywheel etc
Thanks for any help on this matter!!

it should swap just like a 5.0 motor.

A hydraulic clutch may involve some fabrication, I don't know anyone who makes a kit for the F1.

Just my .02 but I would consider the following about T-5's.
1. A 351C is a lot more engine than a 302/5.0
2. Not all T-5 trannys were created equal, ther is a wide variation in torque ratings.
3. Any truck will weigh much more than the cars that came with T-5's ---refer to #2.

I don't know if this will help but,
mustangsunlimited , mustangsplus, texasmustang, dallasmustsang, CJponyparts, maybe Summit Racing sells conversion kits for late model mustangs. They might have parts for you project. If nothing else they do have the bellhousing and flywheel, clutch, cables and brackets etc.
Hope this helps

They are fine for an early Mustang with a 289 but consider a Tremec if you plan to abuse it much.

I am considering a Tremec 3550 to go in my 77 F100, because on the ability to convert it to front or mid mount shifting, since I want to keep my bench seat.
On of the posters on another board that I ferquent (*********.org) said that he adapted a Mustang cable in a T5 conversion in his F100. I have also seen Hydraulic conversions, www.autoworks.cc
Another site that was mentioned in that post, detailed how to put an S10 tailshaft on an F body T5 to move the shifter forward.
