If it is not a feedback version [began in California in 1980 or 1981?] you should be good to go. In the other 49 states, feedback was mostly 1984-1986 for Carter 1 barrel carburetors.

I'm new and I'm not sure how to post pics. I actually picked the carb up cheap on ebay, and I haven't received it yet. It supposedly came off an 82' F150. The casting #, is 7460 and the tag # is E2TE BZA AL H 21.
On the passenger-side it has a bracket with maybe a sensor or something...I'm not sure what it is (again I've only seen pictures myslef)/will try to post pics, but I gave out the tag #, etc?
I just used a MSD box, street blaster coil, duraspark dizzy and an older carter carbarburator. Then threw the TFI crap as far as I could! Someone is always selling a good used msd box and coil.
Msd also sells a adaptor that will plug directly into the durspark distributor.
Giving us the tag number means we can look up factory part numbers for it and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff. I would need the engine's Calibration Code to figure out what other stuff came on it from the factory, and that wouldn't be an easy thing to do using the books (lots of cross-reference tables & parts lists and whatnot) and I'm not likely to spend that kind of time on it. Learn how to post pictures, there's a testing forum you can go play in:
You could be talking about a throttle kicker (kicks up the idle speed whent he air conditioning is on), an anti-backfire dashpot, and anti-dieseling dashpot, any number of things....
Lots of posts and help on the conversion. I even wrote a HOW TO on a conversion using a DUI (HEI) Ignition. I couldn't locate a harness and didn't feel like making one.
I'm happy with the DUI system, and I used a National Carburetor #1506 (Carter YFA).
It appears to me that you can take off the sensors, brackets, etc from a feedback carb as the basic unit appears to be a standard carter YFA, but I'm not sure and have never done it.
