Have Terra Grapplers, hate everything about them. I just put General Grabber AT2's on the Tundra yesterday and based on review I expect good things for the price. For the F250, I think Dura Tracs will be the next one I roll with for combined towing and daily driving......

Look at the Mastercraft Couser C/T and the Cooper ST or ST Max.

I have the same uses and the C/T's work well.

I've gone through 4 sets of Toyo A/T's and love them, they're not the best in mud but they do well for an a/t. I've had one set of the new BFG Rugged Terrains, they suck in every way but a smooth ride. They were pathetic in anything but dry dirt and they wore inconsistently, one was to the wear bars, one was about 1/8" better and the other two were only half gone in 20k miles and I rotate tires at every oil change. I was going for the new Toyos before I got a great deal on a used set of BFG a/t's.

these coopers are a fantastic tire. very quiet for their aggressive thread design.
and the price was rite too. $194 each, plus a $80 mail in rebate.
I have 2nd this. I also have Cooper A/T3 and so far they have been great. I think I payed around $220 each.

i hope to have a detroit true trac by the last of winter so that will help with the traction.
i would like some that last not gone in 35k miles.
i was looking at the Firestone transforce most say they last a long time.
i know im asking the $1000000 question but what have you run and how has it help up.
i would like not to bust the bank on a $1500 set as i cant see a tire being that much better.
i dont need any snow traction tires as we dont have any here.
I can tell you what I have had first hand experience with I will do an off road and on road score out of ten for you in my opinion

BFG all terrain on road 7 off road 6 wear decent
BFG Mud terrain on road 6 off road 8 wear good
Super swamper LTB on road 4 off road 10 wear fair
Super swamper TSL same as above wear fair
Super swamper Bogger on road 4 off road 11 out of 10 wear fair
Ground hawg on road 6 off road 8 wear like iron
Gumbo monter mudder on road 5 off road 8 wear really good
Good year MTR on road 7 off road 9 wear good
many sets of Goodyear Wrangler all terrain types. on road 8 off road very poor..(like spin in wet grass poor)
Michelen LTX A/t2 on road 9 off road 8 wear really good

Tires that friends of mine have had and I would never buy based on my second hand knowledge of performance seeing myself and life...
Kelly brand, cooper brand, Firestone brand, Mickey Thompson

I have had a lot of other tires but the above are available anywhere where some brands I have had may only be available regionally..so i left them out.

I have to say with what you are trying to accomplish with tires I would highly recomend the Michelin LTX A/T2
LTX A/T2 | Michelin Tires

That tire for all around usage, wear, noise, some off road, snow/ice is probably the #1 tire I have used. I currently have some on a 2001 Excursion. Being in PA we get some winters here...that tire on snow even in 2wd is tremendous. I can climb mountain roads (paved) with snow...packed or not...in 2wd and it just chugs along with no sensation of spinning tires or spinning out. They are great on dry, wet, towing, handling...everything. matter of fact the only place I can say they don't shine would be in deep goo. I mean the type of mud hole that would swallow the vehicle.

They are not the cheapest tire for sure but all things considered and with the life you can realize from them, they are #1 in my book and certainly not over priced.

Good luck with your decision.

i will never ever buy a michelin tire.
my reason is they are way to much money, and they dry rot very fast.
my 3 crown vic's and the grand marquis all came with michelins on them. all 4 cars needed new tires within 3 years due to the sidewalls dry rot so bad there were 1/4 inch deep cracks in them. the same thing with 2 sets of truck tires i looked at.
tread looked like new, but the sidewalls were dryrot cracked so bad they were a blow out just waiting to happen.
the coopers on my mothers 99 milan on the other hand are 4 years old and are still in perfect shape. same with the coopers on my 79 F-350. 8 years old now and no dry rot yet.

Michelin Too

I also have had good service from Michelin tires. I my case LTX MS2. This is my second set since 06. Current ones a year old.We get more rain and sleet then snow here but have used them on snow too. Have had fair treatment from them on rare cosmetic deficiencies.

I'd have to agree on the Cooper AT3 and Toyo AT2. Most of our customers have had very good luck with both although I will say it seems the AT3 does edge the Toyo out. Both are available in the E load range you're looking for in both LT265/75R16 and LT285/75R16. The Cooper is a little less than the Toyo and currently has an $80 mail in rebate on a set of 4. Here's the link to them so you can check them out: Discoverer AT3 Tires by Cooper - Buy Discoverer AT3 Online | Tread Depot

Y'all feel free to give me a call if you need anything or need help with any tire questions.

on my 3rd set of Yoko Geolander ATS 285's. first two sets between 65 and 70k on em. Couldnt bring myself to try something diffrent with those numbers. I pull an enclosed most of the time. I would say I am usually in the 6-9k lb range most days. Mostly all Hwy miles. I dont get off road much when I have tires seemed to do OK but I try to stay away from anything to sketchy with the heavy a$$ diesel.

I run Bridgestone Revo 2s, very happy with the hiway/offroad performance and wear. It's a very good compromise tire. A favorite aspect is how quiet they are when peeling out. Run 55 psi unloaded and they wear flat. The Toyo HTs from the PO were great hiway, absolutely destroyed on the first rocks I tried. Which is pretty much my fault of course. I had Coopers before on my 5.0 Mustang and loved them, high quality, good grip.

I just went from the Nitto Terra Grappler in 295/75 (loved them, all wore even and lots of miles on them, can't give accurate miles because I run studded snows for about 5 mos a year) to the Toyo AT 2 in 315/75 (wanted taller in an E rated). So far so good, been on the truck about 2 months. Have a 40,000 mile warranty and I am hoping for the best with them.

I don't think the AT3 will be enough for field service. If you like the Coopers I would check out the ST or ST max.

The Coopers are made in the USA which is difficult to find. Oh, and about the comment on the Michelien's dry rotting, I would have never believed it as every knows they are good tires, but I have some 2.5 year old 20's that look horrible! I feel I need to replace them before the tread is even close to being worn out....don't know what that's all about! The vehicle is always parked outside though.
