Wondering why my clutch disc rubs the head of flywheel bolts on the clutch disc springs??
Flywheel side. Springs shiny and flat. Rivets in centre section shiny and rubbing.
Clutch plate side
Flywheel bolts shiny and worn
Is this a dumb question? Disc wasn't backwards was it? The other side of disc would of stuck out even more.
You never know, unfortunately. I sent off a spindle with a press-in wheel bearing to a machine shop a couple weeks ago. Got the spindle back and they had pressed the new bearing past a circlip, crushing the seal and ruining the bearing.
I'm going to rain on your parade.
I would say the flywheel has already been surfaced more than once and is now too thin.
I don't have a thickness spec but, unless the bolt heads are too thick (doubtful), that's about the only thing it could be.
Looks like your in the market for a new/good used flywheel.

I don't think so. I'll ask my engine builder today.
Little counter boring of bolt holes and shorter heads should bring her back to life.
I'll find the wear limits
I'll ask again, what happened to the pilot bushing/bearing?
Yeah that has me wondering now too.
Also, some of the friction pad rivets apper to be shined up. A clutch plate should be good for for than a thousand Ks, huh?
This gives a little information https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...hick-thin.html
I my opinion, though, I suspect the wrong clutch plate was used. But I also don't see any blind hole on the flywheel surface.
HIO Silver is on the right track here. If you are running a manual transmission without a pilot bearing in the rear of the crankshaft I'm surprised you haven't been plagued by other problems over and above the odd wear on your clutch disc. Better check the bearings on the input shaft of your transmission before you reinstall it.
